Not So Ugly Now

Six days on and the blackbird chicks have grown a lot of feathers, though there is still bare skin. Once again I can see only three beaks in the photo so I can’t be certain there’s another one. I can’t see into the nest. I have to lean out with the camera in one hand, gently poking it through the leaves and shooting blind.

They are very well behaved. Although they were awake they didn’t make a sound. I pass close to the nest several times a day, but I never hear them, even when a parent takes food to them.

A hot day. It’s hard to believe that it was so cold a few days ago.
