Replica

Not the city of Sydney, but a replica of James Cook's boat the HMS Endeavour. Tied up in Darling Harbour.

The second day of the conference. The first plenary lecture this morning was from Dr Terje Torrisen, who is one of the four psychiatrists who assessed Breivik and gave evidence to the Court. The rest of the day has seemed somewhat mundane in contrast.

A paper on Family Court ordered mediation discussed the issues we will be experiencing in New Zealand now that NZ law is the same as Australia, and no one can have a hearing before a judge unless and until they have been unable to agree at mediation. Next, I went to a session and heard about Burn Out in mental health professionals, research fraud, and how lawyers might be helped to avoid cynicism. A symposium on mindfulness filled out my day, as I'm resting for the last part of the day's programme.

Morning session only tomorrow, and then back to Auckland. Had to say my farewells to Tsuken this afternoon, as he is not coming in tomorrow morning. Its been a good, if all too brief stay.
