Backyard Birding

Food is the lure and
photos are the gain when the
feeders are in use

We've been having a somewhat relaxing day at the end of a holiday weekend. Out for late breakfast. D is dismantling some things in our bathroom in preparation for painters to arrive tomorrow morning. He's also made a few repairs that our painters will cover up.

The feeders are all in play today. The largest, containing black oil sunflower seeds, is so busy that it swings and turns like a carousel while the birds clamour for a spot. The mocking bird perched on the neighbour's orange tree keeps watch on my backyard. I've never seen a mocking bird feasting on seeds there but often one is around somewhere. The smallest hummingbird feeder somehow has a full grown been floating in the syrup today. I have no idea how it crawled inside as the only openings are those for the hummingbird's tongue. The big hummingbird feeder in the desert willow tree was very popular today. I caught one of the diners in mid flight.
