Slow and Steady

Our winter months have been slow and steady. Slow days of cozy against the outside cold. Steady days of weekly habits and routine. Winter days of hats, boots, and umbrellas. Comfort food warming our souls. Slow and steady. A good pace. Inside play, conversation, and kid's artwork. Coffee dates. Hot cinnamon rolls right out of the oven. Family. Cuddling up with a good book. Braving the elements for that perfect blip. Slow and steady. Our winter months have been slow and steady. And happy, they have certainly been happy.

Tonight we change the clocks for Day Light Savings. Our daylight will extend out into the early evening. We will lose an hour of sleep but the sun will be up when we rise. Our slow and steady winter will be behind us. The pace of outdoor play and activities will quicken. Neighbors will be out socializing and washing their cars. Sidewalk chalk will fill the driveway. Kids will be racing up and down the street on their bikes until dinner time. The smell of BBQ will fill the air. Gardens will be dug and birds will sing throughout the day. The sun will become a larger part of our daily lives. The days will be filled with more activity. A quickened pace. More spontaneity and family/friend get togethers. Spring will be here.

And then we will face summer..............AND SUMMER IS THE BEST SEASON OF ALL!
