Another day, another beach

Okay, so there's no sign of a beach in the image, which is because it's behind me.

Once again it was question of getting out while there was still some light in the sky and going on a blip expedition. This time it was the turn of Portmarnock, where the long stretch of sandy beach is a favourite amenity for walkers and joggers and dog-owners and the like. This evening was no different, and it was all very pleasant and an ideal spot for a bit of a walk with the camera. I came back with some okay shots of beach activity, but it was a series of the late evening sun going down behind a row of houses facing the beach which looked the best in the pooter.

We're blessed in Dublin with a good choice of convenient beaches and long strands, which line the coast both north and south of the city. The one big disadvantage which affects them all is Dublin's location on the east coast, which naturally means that they lose the sun quite early. Even when the clock goes forward next weekend, the sun will disappear behind these houses and behind the dunes which line the beach earlier than ideal. Portmarnock is still a good spot, though, and I guess the lesson is to aim to be there earlier rather than later in the day.
