Gutties

Sneakers, Trainers, plimsoles, sandshoes... whatever name you have for them, that's what we found hanging draped over the telephone lines at the bottom of the road this afternoon. Two pairs of holey gutties (holes in the soles, not whole in the souls).

The urban myths that surround this act vary from drug dealers using at as a sign that their open for business nearby, or that it's a gangland boundary, or that it's a memorial to a gang member cut off in their prime.

That may well have been the case back in the day in downtown LA with the Bloods and the Crips, but I'm not sure the Young Gizz around Dodge are as organised as all that or as complex that secret codes would be widely understood.

I think the more likely reason is it's the summer holidays and boredom's setting in, and somebody's now walking around in bare feet. Still, it's keeping the seagull's amused whatever it's about.

It looks like the life.turns event went off well over at the launch in Edinburgh earlier this evening, and it was good seeing all the faces peering back at us from the live webcam and have some online chat with numerous other blippers all around the globe in the background. Hoping to head through that way with the kids next week to post some poses to the project using the set up they've got at Inspace. Looks good fun.
