Fine Eating

Although yesterday didn't exactly turn out restful and stress free, today did.

His Lordship and I were invited by his daughter and partner to lunch in the Boat House, South Queensferry. This was a celebratory lunch, both for his Lordship's birthday a fortnight ago, and for the move.

The sun shone, there was festivity in the air, and we had a table at a window overlooking the Forth and the two bridges.

We even had the pleasure of watching a wedding on the beach right in front of us.
The last time we saw that, was in La Jolla , California, a few years back where one would expect the weather to be guaranteed favourable.
But the couple were lucky today with a temperature warm enough that the bride and bridesmaids weren't shivering in their wedding finery.

Our food was perfect, the Muscadet was at the right temperature, and the chat was funny and entertaining, improving with every glass of wine.

The culmination was the bringing on of the birthday cake much to his Lordship's embarrassment. This reached a crescendo when we started singing.
However I'm pleased to say he recovered sufficiently to put pay to a large slice with his coffee.

Everyone was mellow enough afterwards to allow me to wander about with my camera for a while, and the blip is a scene from the High Street through another eaterie to the Forth Bridge with its perpetual bandages of polythene, while painting is done.
I could be wrong, but I think the island is Inch Colm.

We are looking forward tonight to watching the Grand Finale to the festival - The Festival Fireworks, taking place at the Castle and Princes Street Gardens.

What a fine epilogue for a perfect day.
Thank you A& J.
