Seeking the Light

His Lordship and I are like this Buddleia bush, seeking the light.

Not just any old light but a special one which will not only allow me to read in my preferred spot on the settee but add that extra decorative adornment to the room.

Whilst I entertained a long lost friend for coffee this morning, his Lordship was dispatched to do some market research into the subject. He has returned with many brochures from an expensive interior design shop.
I have been given the task of looking at the these books and deciding which lights I like and then we can argue about discuss which one to have, if any.
That's the theory any way. But it will never be that simple.

Today seems to have developed into one of socialising.

Not only have I had coffee with a long lost very ex neighbour, but I am about to visit my friend of many talents this afternoon, before His Lordship and I take a Canadian lady we met on an Amtrak train crossing America eight years ago, out to dinner.

At that time she was travelling with her husband, who has since died, but who it turned out was born and brought up in Angus and had served his National Service in the same regiment as his Lordship.

It was such a coincidence to have met and have so much in common on a train in the middle of a long journey across the USA with the alien Rockies as a backdrop.

We have corresponded ever since, but never met again before now.
I bet it will be an interesting evening.
