A time for everything

Saturday
A picture-perfect Fall day! Laura had to go to a meeting this morning at the Ohio Education Association in Columbus, so we decided to go up with her and have the day in Columbus - we haven't been up there for ages, now that Jen and Jason are no longer living there. We left home at 7.30am - a little before sun-rise. It was a chilly morning, and mist was filling in the valleys and thin layers of mist were hanging over the fields. It was a glorious sight to see the sun rising through the mist and bathing everything in a golden glow. It just filled you with that feeling of being so glad to be alive. Unfortunately we were driving on the interstate and didn't really have the time to stop anyway, so I couldnt record it photographically. By the time we reached Columbus (about a 90 minute drive), there was a cloudless blue sky and the temperatures were warming up nicely. We dropped Laura at her meeting, then went off to find a Starbucks! Then we went to Blendon Woods, one of the Columbus Metro Parks, to the north-east of the city center. The colors along the road as we entered the park were just glorious, and we enjoyed walking several of the trails. I was amazed how quiet it was - a glorious Fall morning, and we only saw about 4 or 5 other groups of people. Laura was going to be having lunch at OEA, so when we had finished walking we went to nearby Easton Mall to Chipotle to have lunch, then went to pick Laura up. In the afternoon, we went to one of the other metroparks, Pickerington Ponds, where I had been hoping to see some bird life, but unfortunately, after our long hot and dry summer, the ponds were almost dried up, but we still enjoyed walking in the beautiful warm sunshine and admiring the Fall colors. It was there that I took today's blip. Then we drove back to Cincinnati, and this evening went out to eat at Olive Garden. A great day!
