While on my runs

Life repeats as it goes on

Christmas morning everyone was up early and active. Two small children needing to be patient, parents and grandparents with lots to do before older daughter with husband and boys joined us all for midday celebrations of family. Five and three year olds needing distraction so Grandpa persuaded them to come for a walk, with their Daddy.

The little beach below us is only accessible down one path at high tide, as the rocks at each end are completely under water. Even at low tide few people come and it is very safe for little persons. Our own children were here every summer from about 30 years ago. Today my son and his children repeated the activity, and I as the grandfather enjoyed seeing the small ones doing similar things to what my own children had done.

My son and granddaughter are standing on a rock platform at the southern end of the wee bay; rocks that he and his sisters loved to clamber over, throw stones from, jump into the water from and examine the life in rock pools left by the retreating water.

This was one of the best presents a grandfather could have; witnessing the excited pleasure of the next generation from the seaside. Almost made up for the other daughter being unable to join us (from England) this year.
