Chicken

There was a little sunshine today, but a sharp drop in temperatures after yesterday, and sunset was noticeably later than it was a fortnight ago.

I passed by a farm shop in Poulshot this afternoon. The shop wasn't open but that didn't matter as it was the farmyard animals that were of interest to me. I chose this image as I have not blipped a chicken before, but I had geese, calves, cows, bulls and two horses to choose from. I'm not an expert on chickens and have no idea what kind it is. All I know is that it has fine plumage and colouring.

Edit: Thanks to those who identified her as a Rhode Island Red.

From there I pulled into a drive that led to Foxhangers, a place alongside the Kennet and Avon that hires out canal boats for holidays, and took photos there and on the towpath beyond it until the light had gone completely, including a group of ducks gliding very slowly past some narrowboats.

Taken with Pentax K-x (White) and Pentax smc P-DA 55-300mm F4-5.8 ED lens (not playing up)
