Marjorie's ramblings

Monday blues

All morning in the committee for the Haltwhistle Walking Festival. Bookings are going well, but there is a lot to do at the moment. Dashed home, eating sandwich en route, to pick Mum up in time for hearing aid clinic in Hexham.

When you need 2 hearing aids and neither is working properly life is very hard. We arrived with 15 mins to spare but she was 20th in the queue to be seen. The first hour passed with 4 people seen. Here she is after 2+ hours of waiting. We were getting a bit desperate by this time. I'd tried napping but it was too noisy and uncomfortable. Mum was tired of "people watching" and resorted to looking at the photos in my Photo magazine. I just liked the idea that relaxing would aid recovery - we tried to relax.....!!

3 hours after arrival she had been seen - but has to be referred to a clinic in Newcastle .............arghhhh. There must be better system than keeping (mainly) (very) elderly patients waiting so long (musn't there?).

Having worked in the NHS for over 30 years I know it can be done but it's hard.

No time for any photography outside - the sun had set when we came home.

I've had 2 paracetamol and opened a bottle of wine!! (Feeling better already)
