NZ Toi Toi

While out and about I've noticed how our NZ Toi Toi has been in full flower, not sure if this is normal for this time of the year - perhaps its because our winter has been relatively mild.

The NZ Toi Toi is endemic to New Zealand and is widespread from coastal to subalpine areas, frequently alongside roads, tracks and streams and found in the North Island, South Island and Stewart Island. There are four endemic species, three in the North Island and one in the South Island as well as one introduced species. C. richardii is the smallest and most graceful toi toi with flower spikes up to 3m long found in the South Island.

A day for a drive for Daughter A and I, a bit of country and wetlands visiting, lovely to spend time together :)

Many thanks for your wonderful comments on yesterdays rural scene, it was just a little experiement and something I hadn't attempted before - I was most surprised to find it on the spotlight page and quite chuffed - thank you :))

Time now to prepare tea again, a pasta dish tonight with a bit of this and that thrown in - sounds good to me!!

Enjoy your evening or day - I'll be back soon :)

PS Its a little duck passing by on the bottom left corner :))
