The Bishop's Nightmare

The bishop had a nightmare;
he dreamed he was a fly,
who landed in a spider's web;
he thought that he would die.

"It was a dream of prophesy,"
said the bishop, glad to waken,
but, next day on the chessboard,
after five moves, he was taken.

And that is why you'll never find,
say diocese insiders,
a bishop in all Christendom
who ain't afraid of spiders!

Thank you for your kind words over the past few days. My mother is turning all sorts of pretty shades of pink, purple, green, red and blue, but is definitely on the mend: typically tough and of her generation.
