Perfect evening

Seeing Venus above the moon in daylight made me determined to get out and sky watch tonight.
The moon was beautiful.
The stars were out. Crystal clear and twinkling like a million tiny diamonds.
Saw a fabulous shooting star that looked like it dropped straight out of the sky.
The telescope worked perfectly for me.
The neighbours are away so my viewing was not spoiled by their love of having every light on in their house at all times.
I lost count of the satellites I saw after I counted ten in an hour.
I've seen new things.
I didn't freeze to bits.

This was all after taking my boys out for tea.

I read this today - a letter from F Scott Fitzgerald to his daughter (11 years old at the time) - it's well worth a read of the full letter, it made me smile.

May 10th is the date I have been given. Seems like a while away. But at least it's a date.
