Hugh McDiarmid Memorial

Today was another challenging day for photography due to the intense sunlight. It was also Day Three of the Langholm Walking Festival and I joined a small select group to tackle Terona Hill, Tarras Rig, Middle Moss etc.

On our route we visited the Hugh McDiarmid memorial set in the hills. He was born in Langholm but public opinion is strongly divided about him and the original site of the monument was deemed to be too close to the town. The sculpture is in steel and bronze and represents aspects of his life and his poetry.

We altered our route this afternoon to avoid a big hill between us and the town, very sensible in the heat.

Home again now and the blackbirds are singing away in the garden.

Very Slightly tired legs and feet.
