Friends in the Wood

We met up with Mrs C and the boys again today. This time at Wendover Woods.
Miss E and Mr L have grown a bit since the last time I blipped them in the woods!
We had a picnic lunch as soon as we arrived. I've decided it's better to get to places a little later and let the Little Misses eat immediately rather than getting there earlier and spending an annoying hour telling them it's too early for lunch and they need to play for a bit longer!
As soon as we'd eaten we headed to the adventure playground in the woods. They all disappeared off into the undergrowth to make dens and play Harry Potter. With really long sticks as wands!
They were gone for hours!!
Mrs C and I pottered about with little Mr C who's at that age when they can't climb or swing by themselves but insist on trying. He did very well!
The others eventually reappeared and we headed off on the Superworm Trail through the forest. I must confess I've never heard of Superworm but the children have apparently read it at school. There were boards throughout the trail with information and activities on - wriggling like worms, picking things up with sticks, hunting for worms and creepy-crawlies. It wasn't as good as last year's Gruffalo trail but they all enjoyed running round and following the signs.
Miss L was unreasonably whingy, tearful and stroppy a little disappointed that we didn't buy the activity pack to take with us. I didn't realise there was such a thing until we got going! I've promised we'll go back and do it again.
She perked up a bit once we got back to the cafe for ice cream.
And then got a bit distraught again when she choked on her mini-milk!!!
Choking on an inch of frozen chocolate. What a way to go!! All was well thankfully!
