Herb-Robert

Even though its a Bank Hol it has been just a normal Monday for me.  Walked to the Co-op to buy fruit.  Walked down to slimming club.  Lost 1½ pounds this week.  Just 3 pounds to go till I get to my target weight.  Its been a real struggle to lose these last few pounds.  But I will stick at it.

Neil was here when I got back from slimming club.  He had a full bag of clothes for washing and an empty stomach.  I have sorted him out on both counts.

I went along the path through the allotments on both my walks today and passed a lot of these pink wild flowers in the hedgerows. I had no idea what they were so I did a bit of internet research.  I think they are Geranium robertianum - commonly known as Herb-Robert.   In traditional herbalism Herb Robert was used as a remedy for toothache and nosebleeds.  Freshly picked leaves have an odor resembling burning tyres when crushed and if they are rubbed on the body the smell is said to repel mosquitoes.  I think I would prefer a different mosquito repellent myself.
