An ordinary life....

Through the Square Window...

This dinky little window is in the wall surrounding the very lovely courtyard garden of the holiday house and it looks out over the rest of the two acre (!) garden.  It's like a little fairy window and I love it :-))

Today started off very promising in all sorts of ways but hasn't turned out quite as planned.

Firstly the sunshine was gradually replaced with cloud and the temperature dropped to a freezing 22 degrees (how dare it!)   I then decided to take the opportunity of the cooler weather and wander in the garden with my camera and get some macro shots of the garden.  Alas every time I got ready to press the shutter button there was a gust of wind not from me! and the shot was blurry.  Gah!

No worries, as for once we actually had a plan for the day and after lunch David, Alan & I, followed by Marion and Stewart in the hire car, were going to head to Talmont St Hilaire, where we holidayed two years ago, and have afternoon tea/coffee/cocktails (delete as appropriate) at the Marina.

Unfortunately the car had other ideas!  When David started it, lots of warning lights came on, the wipers came on and to use a technical term, it was immediately clear it was gubbed!  All out, trip cancelled!

A phone call to the RAC resulted in a visit from a very nice French mechanic who looked the car over and declared he would have to take it away!  Thank heavens Jan, the owner of the holiday house lives in the vicinity as she was able to act as interpreter (if it had been left to David and me to explain it all the poor man would have been demented!)

So our wheelchair accessible vehicle has been taken away to hopefully be fixed but it could be a few days before we get it back, which basically means poor Alan can't go where ever is within walking distance of the house.

Not that he's bothered.  He doesn't want to go anywhere that takes him away from the pool anyway!  He is more than happy to bask in the warmth listening to his Christmas music (Elf will be very proud!) till it' time to take a dip!

So there was nothing else for it but to watch the tennis, read a book and now drink a G&T before getting organised for dinner.

And I've not looked at the clock once!

Bliss :-)))
