An ordinary life....

My Mule Don't like People Laughing...

Backblip (not backflip as autocarrot has changed it to on yesterday's blip! :-))

Every time we drive through a village it reminds me of a film set.

It's just a pity there's a car and a person in this shot (most of the time the villages are deserted!) otherwise it could be the scene from a Spaghetti Western with Clint Eastwood strolling down the road, poncho on shoulders, stetson on head, cheroot clenched between his teeth....   :-))

Last night's meal at Le Saint-George was superb.   It's hard to believe that such an amazing restaurant is slap bang in the middle of this tiny little village.  It literally is a stones throw from the holiday house so we were able to walk back in the slightly cooler evening air, which was very welcome after the scorching day.

They are well known for their delicious lunches apparently and I just wished we'd gone earlier in the holiday and sampled that too.

Anyway, back to today.  We didn't wander far as it was very hot, there was packing to do and poor Alan really isn't well at all.

He is having a very vicious flare up of his ulcerative colitis and I'm so upset that he's not been able to get back in the pool.  He is such a brave soldier though and not complaining, just being very quiet, which to my mind is worse as it means he doesn't even have the energy to complain.  He has lost so much weight in just a week and has no colour whatsoever.  I am dreading the journey home as I know it will be hell for him.  Just wish I could wave a magic wand and we would wake up in our own beds.

We had our traditional last-night-of-holiday BBQ and Jan and Mick came to have a last drink with us and wish us a safe journey.  They really are perfect  hosts, not intruding at all but there when we needed them.  I would heartily recommend their beautiful properties.   I will be so sad to leave, despite the fact that Alan's ill health has overshadowed our time here.

Alan has loved going for a walk in the large garden each evening to feed the chickens.  He will miss them (no I am NOT getting chickens back home!) and we will miss the blue skies and sunshine, especially seeing the weather we are returning to.

Early rise tomorrow.  We have to leave here by 7am as allowing time to stop to sort Alan, the journey to the ferry will take about 10 hours.  Fingers crossed we don't miss it!
