Waiting.....

for the Blue Moon!!!

Well sometimes you have to go with your gut feeling.  CCN and I drove out to Elliott Heads late this afternoon to make sure we were there in plenty of time to photograph the Blue Moon.  A fairly rare occurrence as it only occurs when you have two full moons in a calendar month.

We were so early we decided to take our camping chairs out of the "Mini Mo" and sit on the sand while we waited for the moon to appear over the horizon at 5.17pm precisely.  Well, with tripod and camera set up on settings so kindly provided by Jensphotos during an express Masterclass this afternoon and still half an hour to go we decided we had time to enjoy a chilled glass of Pinot Grigio which surprise surprise was sitting in the fridge in the van.  Woohoo.

Sorry Jen, I loved this pic so much my Blue Moon shot is now sitting in the Extras Area.  Wow we had a good time and it was so, so beautiful.  As the moon rose through the haze on the horizon, the sun was setting behind us. We really didn't know which way to look.  Sometimes you don't want to go home.  A bit like that feeling when you've just seen  great performance, an incredible Opera or a spine tingling stage show.  We had the perfect answer to that conundrum - the best fish and chips you could imagine from the little cafe at the beach.  Wish you could have all joined us :-))

PS - I have a confession to make.  I tried to convince CCN that the tide was going out.  The question was asked on several occasions "Are you sure the tides going out", to which I confidently kept replying - "It's definitely going out'!!  I was forced to change my tune when all of a sudden I realised that the water was now 50 metres closer to our idyllic location than when we first arrived.  It was good while it lasted!!
