Just Perfick!

Dolly and I had an outing today to visit some friends in the Hemel Hempstead area.  It's about an hour away and it POURED with rain for the entire journey which made an otherwise easy journey a tad stressful!

Hemel has sadly been voted the 'Ugliest town in the UK', but after visiting over a cup of coffee my friend Vanessa took us on a couple of errands, which included a visit to the pretty historic market town of Berkhamsted, just outside of Hemel.  After hours of heavy rain, the sun finally came out and we were able to enjoy a cup of tea sitting outside in a pretty pub along the Grand Union Canal.  A little later, after visiting Waitrose and a few other shops in the High Street, we walked along the canal for awhile, enjoying the fresh air and the boats.

I've added 2 extra photos.  One is of Dolly and my friend Vanessa, sitting at the pub.  Dolly loves Vanessa - which is a good thing, because she and her husband are coming to stay one weekend in September when I am away and need of some 'Dolly care'!

The other picture is of a small herd of Elephants.  These were brought back by Vanessa when she was recently working in Kenya.  They are made of old flip-flops which have been washed up on the shoreline.  I must say it is the best example of 'upcycling' I have ever seen!  The company is called Ocean Sole.  It's worthwhile taking a look at a short video on their website.
