Not Icarus

Woke shortly before sunrise, and headed out for a run. The intention was to get to Ercegs Way, along the length of Snells Beach, in time to get the sunrise. As I started out I noticed that the colours of the sky suggested the sun was imminently going to become visible, so I headed down the path to 'our beach', arriving a couple of minutes before the sunrise.

Later today we were visited by daughter C. After lunch while we were talking about her new home, I noticed that the bird table hanging in a pohutukawa just outside and over the deck, was being visited by sparrows. Even though it is two weeks since we last put seed on it, they came very quickly after I had put some seed out.

Then, we were visited by a greenfinch, also on the table, and a pair of chaffinch, which busily harvested the dropped seed on the deck. First attempts at photos (with the door open) were unsuccessful as the birds flew as soon as I moved, or pointed the camera at them.

I closed the door and moved a chair and positioned myself to take photos through the glass of the folding doors. I hope to be able to put into extras one shot of the greenfinch and one of the male chaffinch. Despite being a bit soft due to being through the glass, I'm pleased with them.

Now enjoying a quiet evening after the most gorgeous spring day. Sunny, almost windless, and warm. The wisteria is starting to flower, and the freesias are prolific.
