Fungus foray

Historian31 and I had been promising ourselves a trip to 'The Mens' ( a piece of woodland near Wisborough Green, not the loo) for ages as it is renowned for it's fungi for a year or two, and today we finally made it!
Sadly, it has been quite dry this autumn and there wasn't the amazing amount of fungi there Historian remember from a school trip in the 70's, but we did find a few good things including the lovely 'Beefsteak' fungus Fistulina hepatica, which I have included in my extras as it looks for all the world like it is dripping blood!! very Halloween!
We also found 13! Dor beetles on the forest floor round and about, which was very odd, These large dung beetles are quite beautiful if you look at them closely, with their irridescent blue undersides.
After the Mens, we went on to Ebenoe, where we found the rather attractive Fungus I have blipped in the churchyard.
I think it is a Yellow field cap Bolbitius titubans, but I am more than happy to be proved wrong!
More autumn tomorrow I hope weather permitting!
