An ordinary life....

Dark Side of the Melon...

After spending so long sitting on my study chair yesterday, I was really stiff and achey this morning.  I felt about 80 when I got up and I'm sure I looked it too!

So a slow start before heading out to visit a kitchen company in Fife.

Given the cost of the new kitchen and the fact we're not going to be changing it again in our lifetime, we've decided that more than one quote is needed (originally after visiting a few showrooms, we only requested a quote from a Perth company used by friends of ours who rate them highly and thought we would go with them)

We were very impressed, not just by the showroom in Fife, but by the designer we spoke to.   This refit isn't just about getting a new kitchen, it's about making sure it meets Alan's needs regarding wheelchair space, as well as being functional for us all.

She's given us lots of information to ponder and we're going to arrange for her to visit to complete a design sketch and give us a quote.   We're also thinking about asking a third company to quote.  Not sure if three is too many but It's a big job and we really need to get it right, there's no room for error.

In other news, Alan's wonderful support worker Gill has to go into hospital on Friday for some surgery (she's know about it for a while but didn't have a date.  The hospital phoned her today!) and is likely to be off for at least 6 weeks.  We're all going to miss her SO much, especially Alan.   Isn't it funny how people come into your life and within a short space of time, you can't imagine life without them!

Hopefully the rest of the team will be willing to do some extra hours to cover her absence.  They are the best so I'm sure they will do what they can.
