An ordinary life....

Deaths of Flowers...

Not quite the Flower Friday blip I had planned, but as I put the vase of flowers in the sink to give them a drink, my hand bashed against tulips as I turned the water off and 90% of the petals landed in the sink!

Hey ho, it's not all bad as it allowed me to have a bit of a play on PSE.  Original shot in extras.  Many thanks to BikerBear for hosting Flower Friday.

All go here today.

Massive tidy up in the kitchen in preparation for Gail, Natalie, Diane and Ele coming for lunch tomorrow.  Making ham & lentil soup and wraps filled with creamy goat's cheese, rocket salad and sun-dried tomatoes.

Tesco delivery arrived  and I kept all my soup ingredients separate as I will make the soup this afternoon.  Went into the cupboard to get a pack of lentils (I always have loads) and couldn't find any!  I may have said a bad word!  Fortunately I did find a bag of yellow spit peas so will use those instead.

David's out this evening for his second lad's curry night in a month so I have my evening planned.  Feet up, G&T, pack of Cadbury's mini eggs and full charge of the tv remote.   Blisssssss :-))

I am indebted to blipper amandoAlentejo for bringing the following poem to my attention.  I love it and it describes my thoughts exactly re. tulips and death :-))

Deaths of Flowers

I would if I could choose
Age and die outwards as a tulip does;
Not as this iris drawing in, in-coiling
Its complex strange taut inflorescence, willing
Itself a bud again - though all achieved is
No more than a clenched sadness,

The tears of gum not flowing.
I would choose the tulip’s reckless way of going;

Whose petals answer light, altering by fractions
From closed to wide, from one through many perfections,
Til wrecked, flamboyant, strayed beyond recall,
Like flakes of fire they piecemeal fall.
