Mono Monday: calling time on another pub

The British Oak at the bottom of our road has been empty for a while, and today I noticed it has been de-branded. Hard times for UK pubs. Not that I ever went there: the Crown is nearer, and I don't love Sky Sports.

The British Oak is so named not out of current xenophobia, but is a reference to the Oak tree that gave the displaced King a hiding place during the English Civil war in the 1600s. Most of Gloucestershire, apart from the Forest of Dean, stood for the Royalists during the conflict, and one is never far from a reminder.

A glorious day in terms of both leisure and weather. What a joy to be able to relax in the cabin again!
