Elusive Crystal Falls?

The other day Mrs H pointed out that she saw some small fungi on top of the gatepost that we secure a 'taranaki gate' to at the top of our driveway.

This afternoon I revisited the post with my macro lens to see what was what.

These fungi are tiny, as you can see by the scale of my thumbnail. I think they're a particular kind of Mycena named 'Crystal Falls' after the location in Otago where they were found. I guess I'll need to take a look at night as apparently they are also bio-luminescent.

It's amazing what the tiny world out there holds...
