Whacky Races?

This weekend the 2016 Jersey International Motoring Festival is on and so we combined a visit with a trip to town. We had lunch there whilst wondering around looking at the old cars, bikes and entertainment. Before we headed back to the car we watched the sand racing at West Park. It was exciting to watch and photograph from the sea wall.

According the Jersey Motorcycle & Light Car Club's website 'Sand Racing is held approximately once a fortnight from the end of May through to September and includes Junior and Senior motorcycle competitors. The majority of cars are Production cars in classes of 1300cc, 1600cc and 2000cc and during the last three years these have proved to be most entertaining and popular with both competitors and spectators alike'

These are some beach buggies that were great to watch. The one in front with the menacing eyes reminds me of the Whacky Races cartoons, particularly of Dick Dastardly and Penelope Pitstop. Number 7 won the race so perhaps Penelope Pitstop was safe after all! ;-)

There are more shots on Flickr is you fancy a mooch.
