Flower Friday

This flower is Aquilegia - commonly called Columbine or Granny's Bonnet. The Flower Friday twist today is D.I.Y.  Well I think this flower qualifies as its part of a whole host of Aquilegia plants which have suddenly appeared this year in the back lane just outside my gate. I have put a shot of them as an extra.   I guess they did it themselves - certainly without any help from me.  Thanks as usual to BikerBear for hosting this challenge.

I had plans to go out today but in the end I have spent the time either resting or hobbling round at home.  Late last night Lily was out in the enclosure as usual.  She loves to be out there in the dark.  Anyway I was ready to go to bed so called her in.  The little tinker wouldn't come.  So I went out and tried to pick her up.  She squirmed free and sat on top of an old scratching post which has a loose shelf on the top.  I went to lift her off but she dug her claws into the material which covers the shelf.  The shelf dislodged and fell on my left foot. The pain was excruciating.  I instantly knew it had done some damage.  I couldn't even move for a while I was so shocked with pain.

Manged to hobble indoors and sat down to settle myself.  Took a couple of codeine and went to bed.  Kept waking up with the pain.  Took more codeine.  This morning it was still very painful -  mostly the big toe.  I have strapped it to the next toe to try and support it and have rested it as much as possible. I  Googled  broken toe ( worst case scenario ) and the general consensus is there is no need to go to hospital unless toe is white and or numb or the skin is broken or the toe displaced.  None of that applies so I will just wait for it to get better by itself.  I texted Neil to tell him what had happened and he texted back " Jeeeeez Mam you gotta be more careful! "  I think I better had.

So I haven't done much today but I did cook a nice pork dish for my tea  and did some ironing. Watching the football at the moment.  France v Romania. Romania have just equalised. Looking forward to watching the Wales and England matches  tomorrow.
