Davaar Island and People Crossing the Doirlinn

15.7C bright and sunny. Plenty of cloud about. Moderate occasionally light Westerly breeze.

Saturdays feel very quiet these days.

After lunch Maeve the Deerhound and I went for the repeat of our usual morning walk. We stopped to chat with  a person who wanted to meet Maeve, then to pass the time of day with our downstairs neighbour.

Once Maeve was back home and settled I went out again. Mary Chapin Carpenter (Ashes and Roses) then Deacon Blue (The Hipsters) on the iPod Mini. I went out Low Askomill to the old shipyard and kept going out the North shore path and out beyond Baraskomel farm before turning and coming home. There were yachts coming and going through the channel. They almost always furl their sail(s) as they enter the channel. On the way out a sail often goes up once they are through the last set of channel markers and they make for the open sound beyond Davaar island.

This shot of Davaar island and the Doirlinn (from the top of the old shipyard) today is to give some idea of what it was like when I was out beside the beacon on Wednesday. The eagle eyed amongst you might just be able to make out the people just to the left of the beacon as you look :-)

On the way back I walked round the esplanade to the harbour and came back home through town.

Afternoon music ... Dixie Chicks, Home then Dr Hook & the Medicine Show (... from back in the early days before they dropped "the Medicine Show". I went to see them at the Apollo in Glasgow in the mid 70s. Several times. Oh yes !), Sylvia's Mother.

P.S. We were invited to a wedding reception. One of the staff from one of the Boots shops got married. Turns out  our downstairs neighbours had been invited too. The groom works beside the chap downstairs (his wife works for the Council). We went together. Made sense. Worked out very well. The reception was in the village hall in Peninver, just round at Achnacross Bay overlooking the Kilbrannan sound.
