On the Beach

Today started off just like yesterday. Straight out to the pool after breakfast for a few hours before hot chocolate and lunch and heading out to the beach.
Via the Apple shop in Caen!!
Bizarrely in our gite there is no TV downstairs and a giant one in the main bedroom upstairs. It's only French channels though and none of the various wires which Mr M and Mr K bought with them could connect the iPad to the TV. So apparently it was imperative that we drive to a retail park on the Caen ring road and buy a wire which would.
Luckily it was on our way to the beach!
We went to St Aubin-sur-Mer which was our favourite beach when we were here for D-Day in June. It was so good to go back!!
We sat up on the prom in our usual spot and had our usual beers and espressos while the children made sand-castles, paddled and whinged about the sea water stinging their legs. Wimps!
There was a horrible few minutes when three year old Mr C wandered off and we couldn't find him. Classic one minute he was there and next minute he was nowhere to be found. Awful.
But all was well - he'd wandered up the prom and some kind passers by found him.
Miraculously when the kids all went into the water for the second time the water didn't lacerate their delicate skin and they had fun on one of the rafts anchored on the beach.
A bit more digging in the sand and then it was time for dinner. Miss L loved her king prawns as usual. It's quite a sight watching her rip the heads off and devouring them!!
We were eating at 9pm and we realised the supermarket we'd planned to go to was shut. Honestly, don't the French realise that you can't be expected to go shopping at reasonable hours?!!
We'll have to buy some food tomorrow!
The Little Misses fell asleep on the journey home so Mr K carried them straight to bed. I had planned to get an early night but like last night ended up chatting until nearly 1am. Bloody friends with all their chatting and laughing!!

Holiday Blips start here.
