A view from Jeanneb

Steaming away.

A hint of mist this morning made the sun look like an orange ball in the sky. It was a pleasant and warm walk with the ladies and we had the treat of seeing the two swans together on Coppice Pond. They both came to the feeding station and seem very much a pair which is great.

As forecast it started to rain about an hour later and it was still raining when we headed up to Sutton to look at doors. We are having new windows at the back of the house and wanted to look at doors for the kitchen. We've had the door since we moved in and I feel a bit sad to see it go as it is almost unique but it needs a new lock and is not as draught proof as it used to be.

When we left the sun had returned and so we came back over the hills to Oakworth. Driving down to the station the level crossing gates were closed. So I leapt out to try to get a shot of the train. I was a bit far away but it was interesting to see the girl opening the gates by hand as they all used to be.

Oakworth station is on the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, and is where we alighted for our Starlight Hike on Saturday evening. As Chris had pulled in we decided to take a closer look at the station in daylight and I took this just as the train pulled away heading for Haworth, Damems, Ingrow and Keighley.

You may have seen this place many years ago in the film of the Railway children with Jenny Agutter. The row of cottages just above the station provided the home for Mr Perks played wonderfully by Bernard Cribbins.

( On the local news at lunchtime about flood defences, the pub I pictured in yesterday's blip here https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/2220224580297949819 was featured as apparently it still hasn't reopened from the Christmas floods in Hebden Bridge. Not all back to normal despite appearances)
