Cambridge

Mum and I had another lovely day out in Cambridge today. She came round early and came to school with us. We took Miss E to school, dropped Miss L off, went home for Miss E's piano books, went back to Miss E's school, dropped them off and finally got on our way!
As far as Milton Keynes where we stopped for fuel  and to introduce my mum to the delights of Homesense! We both bought wreaths for the front doors at Christmas and one or two more Christmas decorations!
Then it was on to the Orchard Tearooms in Grantchester. It was as beautiful as ever! We arrived in glorious sunshine and sat outside with our tea and soup enjoying the sun and the spectacular Autumn leaves. Just gorgeous!
After lunch we walked up to the church and had to laugh at the sight of the vicarage they use for filming Grantchester. Ordinarily it's a plain house but they've been filming there over the last few days and it looks a bit incongruous festooned with a magnificent wisteria in full Summer bloom. In November!!
We got the Park & Ride into Cambridge - sitting at the front at the top, woohoo!! - and the day followed a familiar pattern. We're nothing if not creatures of habit. As I have a habit of saying!!
We went into John Lewis to look at the Christmas decorations and the kitchens. And to charge my phone for half an hour as I'd accidentally left the camera on and ran the battery down.
Then it was a wander down to Cath Kidston for a browse, a hunt round the market for a new scarf (I get one every time!), a recce of the Christmas food in M&S (and a chance for my mum to stock up on ridiculously reduced fish), a cup of tea in the M&S cafe (and the reduced prawns with chilli and coriander that I'd bought downstairs), a look round a couple of galleries and head back to the bus via Kings College and John Lewis again (for the toilets and the bedding department!!)
We've said that the next time we'll explore more of Cambridge - the Botanical Gardens perhaps, or one of the museums, a college or two or the river.......
But I'm pretty sure we said that last time!!
