Gently down the stream

Mr Nickleby and Mr Nash

Today I met blipper Jinglyjan at Tate Britain to see the Paul Nash exhibition.  When I arrived in London I walked - under a perfect blue sky - from Waterloo.  Just shy of Lambeth Bridge I was taking bad pictures of the river when this man introduced himself to me as Mr Nicholas Nickleby.  He thought we had the same kind of hair (*?!!).  Well of course I asked if I could take his picture.  He looked mildly surprised, but was very amenable.  In the background is the Palace of Westminster.

I got very muddled about which I preferred, mono or colour and wondered if the blues of sky and water didn't perhaps overwhelm his papery skin.  But I've finally gone with colour.  The mono is now in Extras and I have also put in a shot of the front of Tate Britain. I'd love to know which option you'd have gone with.

The exhibition was fantastic.  Actually, words fail me.  It was huge, rich, varied (going through all the periods of his active life) and finally very moving.  Jan and I found ourselves staggering out to buy the catalogue in dire need of a sit down in front of a plate of food and a large glass of wine.  Oh, what fun we had :))

Hope your day was even half as good.  Wow!  And have a happy weekend  xx
