Life's Little Moments

A Tale of Two Kitties

Some of you may recall that back in April of 2015, when we returned from Florida, we adopted this handsome boy, Charlie.  You may also recall that our dowager cat, Phoebe, took an instant and vehement dislike to him.  We had months of terrifying noises and nearly constant hissing and spitting.  Gradually, though, the two have become - if not best friends - at least moderately companionable  tolerant.  The only time Phoebe hisses now is when Charlie pounces out from some hiding spot and startles her.  He's at least 3-4 years younger than her, so has more play in him.  Both cats were napping about 18 inches from each other when I took this.  See Extra for a shot with Phoebe softly in the background.

It's been a bit of a hectic day.  Hubs left very, very early or a day-trip to Ohio (flying) and at 8 my SIL called to say that Virginia (my MIL) had severe nosebleeds during the night.  This has been ongoing for the last couple of days and we were hoping it would self-resolve, but it hasn't.  So, we put our heads together and decided that a visit to the urgent care was in order.  And, as these things sometimes go, after a fairly long wait the urgent care doc said she needed to go to hospital to have a cauterization done.  So, now SIL, MIL and primary care-giver are at the hospital emergency room, waiting to be seen.  And I am waiting on this end to be conferenced in once the doctor has taken them  to an exam room. Meanwhile, I've been keeping Hubs updated via text - he's beyond worried, naturally.

Still fighting a cold myself, so I'm manning the phones, tea in hand and fire blazing.  This is definitely a family effort and a great example of all of us working together, in spite of many miles between us.  Thank goodness for technology!

A few good thoughts directed towards Alabama would be most welcome, if you're inclined.
