A time for everything

Robin

Thursday
The morning dawned cold and frosty, but also very foggy - when I first opened the curtains, you couldn't see beyond the end of the garden. However, by the time we were having breakfast, the sun was already burning off the fog, and the fields beyond were coming into view. Since Laura wasn't feeling her best today, she didn't feel she was up to anything energetic, so we just went for a level walk along the road to Staunton parish church, which is located in a picturesque position set back from the road beside a little fishing lake. Along the way, we walked along a crescent of cottages with small paddocks across the road from them, one of which held a fair number of rare breed sheep, black and horned. In one of the trees, this little robin posed nicely for me. When we got back, Janet had prepared us a nice salad lunch. About mid-afternoon, Peter and Judy arrived from Sheffield, and after a cup of tea, Roger, Judy and I went out for another walk along the local lanes. After another delicious meal - I hate to think how many pounds I've put on this Christmas (!) - we exchanged a few gifts, and spent the rest of the evening chatting.
