Dexter: Rollin', Rollin', Rollin'!

You can blame it on my new shoes if you want. It was a beautiful day, very springlike, with high temperatures in the mid-60s F, and we just had to get outdoors to enjoy it. So my husband and I seized the opportunity to go wading (me in my brand-spanking-new New Balance water shoes - wee-hoo!) at a favorite spot along Bald Eagle Creek.

We grabbed a pair of club hoagies along the way at a little gas station/market in Port Matilda, nearby. So our first act was to fall upon those hoagies like ravening wolves. Apparently, it takes a lot of energy to walk on water!

We found the last little bits of snow along the water had melted, though I'm sure snow and colder temperatures will return again; after all, it's February, not April. And I can't say that the water was balmy (more like "brisk"), though the air temperature was.

We spent several happy hours walking in and around the creek, and sitting in our chairs enjoying the sunshine, reading our books. There is nothing quite so relaxing as hanging out creek-side on a sunny, springlike afternoon.

Then it was time to go home, and we packed everything up and drove the 15 minutes or so to get there. We must have gotten into a variety of catmint (catnip is in this family) on the shore because Dexter became immediately obsessed with the bags we had with us, including the ones our water shoes had traveled in.

Dexter threw himself on the floor, he pawed at the bags (note that red handle to the lower left), and his eyes grew wide, as he began rolling, rolling, rolling all over the floor, with his white whiskers backlit by the late-afternoon sun.

My soundtrack song just had to be about "rollin', rollin', rollin'" (rollin' on the rivvveeeerrrrr!) so here are Ike and Tina Turner with Proud Mary.
