Life through the lens...

By ValC

Poldark Country.

After calling at Newlyn for some sea bass, we went over to St Just.
Picked up a couple of pasties from a local butcher ( now voted No1 by us!)
and drove to Botallack.
This is where they filmed quite a lot of the Poldark Series.
Unfortunately what was a very interesting National Trust display about the mining and miners, is now a huge screen telling you all about the filming.
I'm sorry, but we think they have pushed the mining heritage to one side, in favour of cashing in on the Poldark effect.
They are even going to charge for parking, something that is not going down too well with the locals. We have been coming here for 50 years, and it has always been free.
Anyhow that is my moan over for the day.

We had a lovely walk along the coastal path towards Cape Cornwall.
Although dull it was quite warm

In the photo you can just see the Crown Mines in the distance, clinging to the cliffs.
Because it was dull it seemed to make the yellow gorse shine out. It really was beautiful.

The afternoon finished with a blip meet.
It was so nice to meet LindyLulu and her husband.
It is not surprising that when you meet a fellow blipper for the first time, it feels like you have known them for ages.
Thank you so much L. We look forward to meeting up again next time we are down here.
