Moving Violations ... Day 2

The misery continues.  The bungling, inept movers who screwed up yesterday's move from the 15th floor to the 26th have hit another home run today.

Where to begin?  We informed the moving company that the moving men needed to arrive at our Connecticut house by 9:00 in the morning in order to unload yesterday's cargo, and then load the things we wanted to transport back to Boston.  We waited, and waited, and waited ... finally Mr. W called and asked for an ETA.  We heard back from the ham-fisted movers at around 11:00 a.m. that they were horribly lost in the Wallingford area, on Route15.  DISASTER!!!!!!!  (1) Route 15 strictly prohibits ANY trucks -- there are lots of low bridges, and narrow traffic lanes which preclude anything other than cars.  (2) Wallingford/Route 15 is NOWHERE NEAR where they should be headed between Boston and our home in Bridgewater!  Mr. W got them re-directed, but by the time they showed up, it was after 1:00 p.m.  The BIG problem with that is that our building in Boston only allows movers to do their thing between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.  Seeing as how it's a good 3 hour drive (in a truck filled with furniture, etc.) between Point A and Point B, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the time window is SEVERELY limited.

Needless to say, it took these clowns quite a bit of time to unload/load the truck (despite the fact that we were VERY hands on ... hefting boxes/furniture etc. ourselves), and  so the truck didn't leave Connecticut until 4:00 p.m.  The truck didn't arrive in Boston until 7:30 p.m., at which point the security people in our apartment building denied them access to the freight elevator!  (To be fair, we knew that the rules forbid moving after 5:00 p.m., but we did contact the management to let them know of our dilemma, and they indicated that it wouldn't be a problem initially ... but then ... it became a problem.)  So.  No furniture delivery today.  Rescheduled for tomorrow morning at 9:00. The saga continues.
