Ell av a day!!

As the forecast was so good for today hub and I decided yesterday that we would go,out for the day today!

We woke to bright skies and so were up and out by 9.30........arriving in the Lake District just before 11am. We plumped for Ambleside as we hadnt visited before, what a good choice it turned out to be!!

This was almost our first glimpse of the lake with the snow capped mountains as a backdrop, stunningly beautiful and uplifting after all the horrid weather weve had lately.
I couldnt resist using this shot, as the title for todays entry popped into my head as soon as I saw the little red boats name :-)

We had a lovely coffee beside the lake, before walking from the pier into the town centre, a meander around the shops, a walk along the lake edge, through a park, by which time our tummies were telling us it was lunchtime.
A lovely bowl of soup and sandwich for me, and a sandwich for hub, followed by rather a large bowl of mixed icecreams, salted caramel, lemon meringue and strawberry!!!

By late afternoon we had clocked up 16,000+ steps, a good 6 miles or so....so enjoyable in the sunhsine. We ditched our bodywarmers and even took off our thick jumpers whilst sat on a bench it was proper springlike, finally!

By the time we got home it was after 6.....even th friday evening traffic wasnt sooo bad.

All in all, a reet good day :-D
