Rebirth and Renewal

Whatever your beliefs, that is what this season is about. Which is why we get chocolate eggs, little chicks and bunnies to represent a fundamental idea.

I think it's intellectual laziness to focus on the mundane and to not consider the deeper implications of this Springtime festival, which is not confined to Christianity.

Stories of sacrificial killings and rebirth abound in pre-Christian myth and tradition.

Perhaps the big difference is that there is historic evidence that Jesus Christ lived and died.

Even if you cannot bear to believe in the physical resurrection, the analogy of the Easter message permeates our lives. How often have you thought that you have died inside and have yet managed to come through?

For those with depression though, this may not be the outcome. Sadly, too many cannot bear the pain and commit suicide.

In contrast to Judaism which prescribes strict rules and ways of living, Jesus brought the message that all, I mean anything and everything, is possible in the world, whether we like it or not.

At the totally prosaic level, I opened my chocolate Easter egg this morning, took three pieces, and now have indigestion.

George and Kat are to visit this afternoon. Weather remains cool and cloudy.
