Marjorie's ramblings

Tree huggers

You never know what a walk with the Haltwhistle Walking Festival will include. I was leading today, but I had no idea that three of the walkers would do a bit of tree hugging!

The forecast was bang on. It was pouring at 0800 and then the sun came out and the rain disappeared. We had a brief flurry of hail at about 1400 and the wind became stronger and colder. The actual snowstorm waited until 1700 when I was driving home.

Our was was 11 mile from West Hall village and visiting a number of farms in the area. It's gentle countryside and the farming is all livestock. Sheep and lambs were everywhere, some hoping that we would feed them.

I had a great group out - 25 walkers and 3 of us in the team - everyone was well matched for fitness and there were no accidents.
