Nicky and her Nikon

Another busy day

Gavin spent the morning chasing down the gas and electricity suppliers of the new house so that we are able to take over the accounts from the sellers. The sellers are trying to be helpful but are a bit clueless and we were given the wrong suppliers so it was a bit of a frustrating morning. We have a long list of things to attend to and are slowly ticking them off, but they do keep racing through my mind at 4am when I should be sleeping!

Being a new, modern house, it has very sophisticated technical systems installed which is lovely except we don't know how they work! So this morning we met with the alarm contractor and it seems we require more modifications to be done to meet with the requirements for our insurance company. Then we met with the AV man and that was the bit when I got confused as it is all so technical - anyhow, he will come back in two weeks time to change certain things so it works the way we would like it to.

After that frustrating day we had the treat (a half term treat for Thomas) of going to see l'Elisir d'amore at the Royal Opera House. I wanted to see it as besides it being a light hearted and funny opera, its star was a young South African soprano who was having her debut at the ROH with this show. She comes from humble origins in South Africa and has won prizes and performed all over the world. She was sensational, indeed a rising star! I did have a tear in my eye when we clapped at the end of her performance.

The lovely evening did to quite go according to plan....about two thirds of the way through the first act, the fire alarm sounded and we were told to quietly evacuate the building as there was a fire in the building. The cast were just as surprised as the audience! Everyone filed out very calmly and we stood outside in Bow Street for about 25 minutes while it was dealt with. We were not sure if we would be allowed to see the rest of the performance but then we were asked to return to our seats. The delay made it a very late evening and I am now more than ready for bed - but it was a fantastic evening.

Oh yes, this is a little flower in the garden after the rain. The tiny raindrops could qualify for Tiny Tuesday.
