Strumpshaw Fair, Norwich

We have had a wonderful day at the Strumpshaw Fair today, with our most lovely friends Karen and Neil. It has been impossible to find a weekend we are all free so today they drove from Cambridge and met us at the fair. We were up early and away by 8, ready to set up and get a fire going before the fair opened at 10.

Karen and Neil arrived about 11 where I had just managed to get the fire going long enough to boil the kettle. Then we settled down for a long day of whittling spoons, cooking bannock bread and sitting in the sun. Lucky us. Jon was pretty rushed off his feet making whistles with children, helped by Neil. Tomorrow he will be on his own with Henry, so won't be doing the spoon carving, which took a long time. Here you see Karen and I. We whittled on and off from 11.00 to 5. We still haven't finished them.

A long day, and once home we enjoyed a BBQ followed by a wander to the allotment where we saw an owl fly over but not to photograph.

Now late night chat, beer, wine and general catch up. Tomorrow we do it all again....
