A hidden garden in Hexham

This morning I took Mum to meet up with our friend Sister Mary Dolores at Carntyne in Hexham. Carntyne is the Catholic run residential care home. It's tucked away, just off the main street, and beside St Mary's Catholic Church.

Sister Dolores had wanted us to see the garden and it was well worth the visit. It is a well established garden with lots of trees and shrubs around it. Here your see across the lawns and flower beds to the house (on the right) and the church (on the left).

We were very impressed. Everyone on the staff made a point of speaking to us and telling us about the place. There was a lounge, but no sign of elderly people propped around the edge, dozing. Some were in their rooms with visitors and some were in the dining room, chatting around a table.

There was no smell either! Well done to the staff.

The upstairs lounge is on a level with the garden. We had coffee and feather light cheese scones, made that morning.

Then we shopped at Aldi and Waitrose, ready for our visitors tomorrow.

Then I've been toiling away with the programme for the festival. I'm getting there, but it's always hard at this point. I try so hard to eliminate any errors, but there always seems to be something that creeps in!!
