Sour Dough Bakery

Last year when we were visiting, Elisabet and Alice took us to the most wonderful farm where there is a sourdough bakery. It was one of my favourite outings during that visit so I knew I wanted to go back there. And today was the day!

Like last year (see the blips here and here), it was a chilly windy day, but it will still just about warm enough to sit outside and we also took Alice for a walk down the lane. We ordered our lunch - I had the beet soup and Elisabet had a goats cheese and beet salad with walnuts and honey. The lunches include helping yourself to bread and cheese and jam, as well as a cold drink and tea or coffee with a small cake. The menu is dictated by what is in season and beets are definitely 'in'. Which is good because we both love them!

There are chickens and so eggs are available to buy, which we did. We had no room for a larger cake from the bakery but we bought some to put in the freezer for another day. We also bought carrot jam to take home because it was delicious!

The whole place was wonderful - the food, the beautiful farm buildings and the whole setting. I wish I could transport the whole thing to England! Please see more views in the two extra photos.

Alice's version of today can be read here.
