Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

A half pint of Paolozzi beer, please...

Quite a lot of activity today on my part - half an hour on the bike, with an extra ten minutes on the cross trainer because the two low bikes were occupied. That cross trainer is a killer.

A showery day was predicted, so in between showers we walked along to Summerhall for a nosey (extra). There are lots of shows on there, plus lots of little bars and gin caravans.

But we headed straight to the old Cat and Dog Hospital, which is now a pleasant wee pub. And indeed, it's had a few alterations since last time we were there, making it even better. And the music, well, it was great! Good sound system, good volume, great songs - some oldies - but nothing screechy, just tuneful and non-intrusive.

We had an excellent chicken and pesto ciabatta sandwich, with loads of delicious chips. Also a half pint each of Paolozzi beer. Archie was given a big bone biscuit and a dish of water. An excellent dog friendly pub.

We walked back home JR and Archie walked back home, but my bus happened along at just the right time, so I couldn't resist.

A couple of young folk came round to meet Archie with a view to taking him out for walkies at a later date. She's a student, and appears to have plenty of free time, which is ideal. And the young chap can 'work from home' so seems quite flexible too. They were impressed with his tricks, of course. And the young chap found it endearing when Archie started undoing his shoe laces. Hopefully they'll take him out quite soon. Not next week, as we're off to the wilds of Perthshire for a few days for yet another holiday. Yay!
