Vadstena Castle

Today we drove to the small city of Vadstena which is a medieval city on Lake Vättern, the 2nd largest lake in Sweden. I enjoyed an hour long English tour of Vadstena Castle while Elisabet and Alice went on a walk along the lake.

After the tour we had a picnic and then wandered around the city, also known for the Abbey and Monastery and is an important pilgrimage site in Sweden. I also went inside the Abbey church of St Birgitta, which is a 14th century church. We of course had fika - while sitting in the sun along the edge of the lake. A beautiful day out!
