Pateley Bridge

Today has been quite leisurely and we spent a couple of hours in Harrogate first thing. We looked in 'Bettys' window, at her menu, prices and queue. We decided that today we were about 20 years too young to visit, and perhaps when we are pensioners we might be able to afford it! Just down the road we found a lovely tea shop where we enjoyed tea/coffee and cakes for a reasonable cost. We wandered a bit but there wasn't anything in particular that any of us wanted to look at.

From there we drove to Pateley Bridge. The photo is the main street, very pretty with all the bunting. It goes down to the river Nidd where we watched a man fly fishing. Mollie can be seen standing outside a shop that claims to be the oldest sweet shop in the country. It has photos of various celebrities on the wall inside. We found another nice tea shop for lunch. There weren't many shops, so we walked up and down once, before heading home.

We drove home via Asda and picked up some bargain fresh pizzas and salad all at knocked down prices.

We are going to have a relaxed evening playing cards, although at the moment we can't help giggling at our new campsite neighbours. They arrived just before we got back at about 4, and are still setting up (at 8!) They have a tiny teardrop caravan, plus an awning, (which are very clever minimalist units, but quite expensive because we've looked before) HE has spent the last half hour setting up his satellite dish and SHE has just got a brand new miniature microwave out of its box! It is great how everyone has a different idea of camping, and with a caravan for us it is very different to our canvas days.....but a satellite dish??? Really?

We are thinking about heading home tomorrow afternoon instead of Saturday morning. Another holiday nearly over :(. But we will definitely be back to Yorkshire!
